Democrats Abroad Greece, based in Athens, is the official representative of the Democratic Party in Greece. See our web page here.

Since March 2005, Athens lawyer Beth Tate Hondros is the Chair, backed by Executive Vice President Bill Kiritsis, Vice President Yvette Jarvis, Secretary John Lewis,  and others.  Every U.S. citizen in Greece has the right and even the duty to take part in the 2008 U.S. presidential elections.  By registering with Democrats Abroad you gain a vote in choosing the 22 Democrats Abroad delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver this August. Help choose between Clinton, Edwards, and Obama.

Some 475 U.S. citizens living in Greece voted in the Global Primary of Democrats Abroad February 5-12, 2008.  We were 384 voters at the Grande Bretagne Hotel in Syntagma Square, Athens,  on Feb 8 and 9, plus 91 internet voters. We had wonderful press coverage, not only from the English-language Kathimerini and Athens News but from the three largest Sunday papers on February 24: Eleftherotypia, To Vima (magazine), and Proto Thema (magazine).

Please call Beth Hondros at +30.693.6666.462 or email dpca_gr @ yahoo.com

Please do your part. Sign up with Democrats Abroad. Contribute a little time and money to getting out the vote of thousands of U.S. citizens in Greece.

(For the Global Primary of Dems Abroad Greece, I volunteered to serve as media co-coordinator along with Yvette Jarvis, Athens Mayor Kaklamanis's advisor on immigration issues.)

Note: DAGr members cover the whole Democratic spectrum. I personally am supporting Barack Obama. Watching the reaction of Greeks and other foreigners to the U.S. election campaign, it's clear that Obama has that rare ability to communicate the best face of America to the world. Given three strong Democratic candidates with excellent skills and characters, Obama should prevail as the one who can most effectively rebuild the international alliances the United States used to lead and ought to lead.
